Stuff
Managed to (a) remember my birthday this year, and (b) had some fun... On Sunday I slept in impossibly long time (you know, like after 11am... it's late! stop laughing...), woke up to hear Aramis-the-devil-cat rummaging in the bathroom and realized I'd left my Q-tips out where he could get at them. Needless to say they were /everywhere/... He's got a fixation for plucking them out of the box and playing with them.
Then I had fun reading the last bit of my first present, a lovely lovely 'the Making of Gormenghast' art book...compliments of Twig... All that is left to complete my collection is the original books ala Peake... which I really should read... If you haven't seen the 4-part TV show based on the books ("Gormenghast") You should! It's got a real albino raven in it, so how can it be bad...?
So B-kun, Twig and I went to Cheesecake Factory at the Arboretum, killed our wait-time by prowling through the Restoration Hardware, pondering buying the chess set done up in shotglasses... Anyway there was much consuming of food. After a brief intermission back at the apartment to cache our leftovers and play with cats it was off to the Armadillo Bazaar Arts Festival in downtown so that I could find a Christmas present for my mom... The place is seriously cool. Some (not all) of the vendors there are selling some nifty shit, including a husband&wife who had decorative ceramic wear with Beatles lyrics on it.
I then inflicted the first 3 episodes of RedDwarf on both of them because at some point or another I've tried to explain the raw amusement value of season 1 of that show... but unless you've seen it... yeah. So they laughed, and I feel vindicated. Yoshi... *yawn* now if only I could get motivated to do work... -- What the boy said.

Oops, fixed the link for the last entry, go read it, it's amusing, in a sad sort of way, and hey, it's CNN so it can't be 'bad' right? *snicker* -- What the boy said.

This is Funny, sort of...
And it goes so beautifully with Thorne's recent musing about repeatable plots, PWP and the ever enjoyable/repeatable erotica that plagues romance novels/fangirs/the universe. I offer therefore the counter example of what hapens when you try and do it in a way that has Never been done before... Remind me to never buy this book. ...Reusing metaphors, woo guilty. Hell I have a hard enough time not reusing the same word 2 sentences later without the more complex stuff... at least my characters are usually well thought out... but recycing from stock Square and recycling from my childhood daydreams are much the same to me, I think my crime is more ego driven as most of my non-Square characters invariably take on traits of me, or people around me. Sooner or later my first neurotically lovable Twig character will emerge and she'll kill me with a frying pan. *wince* Well that'd make a good story too, really.
Not only is my hotel for tonight back in the US... but it's 100 dollars cheaper a night, so much for the 'everything cheaper in mexico' thing... -- What the boy said.
Thursday, December 5, 2002 10:12 a.m.
Hey wow, Twig! She's from Pittsburgh! Tee-hee... That's awesome. God I miss the 'burgh weather... Well OK, not the glaciers that started in November and lasted until May, but the over all grayness of it... it was lovely and dark and gloomy and perfect for never leaving the house... wait I must be on crack. Blame Mexico folks, I've gone stupid. I definitely think I'm going back across the border Friday night pay 60$ less for better service in a US hotel before flying back on Saturday... yeay me. The question is what to do with my luggage if I check out Friday morning... maybe I can bribe my front desk to hang onto it... but that would require them understanding enough english to bother. Troubling, I'll have to ask. -- What the boy said.
Wednesday, December 4, 2002 02:16 p.m.
How strange...
Instead of practicing my own bad art skills... it turns out yesterday I had someone else practicing on me. My accomplice in Mexico who is making sure I get back and forth to work everyday decided to take me out to dinner last night where we were solicited by a characture artist... I wish I could have thought of a polite way to refuse the honor of the gift, but 20 pesos later I was the proud owner of a new and very Rosie O'Donnell style picture... of me? At least I talked the artist out of doing me up in a swimsuit ala Baywatch (in my amazingly broken 3rd grader spanish). He wanted the bakini, I countered with 'a buisness suit' (don't even ask how I remembered to say 'Traje' it just found it's way back into the working vocab via panic alone) and in the end we settled on me wearing a jacket and jeans and looking unspeakably buxom. *shrug* all's well that ends well. I'll have to scan it when I get home, just for the fear factor alone. -- What the boy said.
Monday, December 2, 2002 07:11 p.m.
I can't make my title bold because I can't find the backslash on this asanine spanish keyboard...
Screw the old school "you'll like it once you settle in" border towns in Mexico suck, they suck so hard... damn I wish I had let my roommate load me down with reading materials before leaving austin... and food. God I need food...
My distinct lack of spanish skillz and private transportation are the real crimpers here... not that anyone but a certified lunatic should be allowed on the roads, or the gravel that they call roads... but yes, even with the hotel's built in resteraunt "anything you want so long as it's mexican!" and my very nice assistant over at Nokia's plant where I'm doing the seminar... It's pretty ass here. I did get to see 'The Crying Game' on cable the other night, which was good, it was even in english with spanish subtitles, so better yet! But the resteraunt doesn't open for breakfast until 8 or something, and I had to be gone by 7... and tomorrow more of the same... so I ate breakfast at the Nokia cafeteria, where again "we serve our pancakes with chillies"...
this is so wrong...
Anyway I've now got a whole week to be productive with my new sketchbook... maybe IŽll finish that doodle I promised BlackRose... Or Flidget... or myself... it't funny how little ff9 art I have... maybe it has something to do with my genral apathy at the game in general... must remember to return it to B-kun soon.
... someone get me out of here...
-- What the boy said.

Because I'll just forget again in an hour...
I'm going to Mexico to teach my last class for Q4 tomorrow, another week away from home. Twig can breathe a sigh of relief now that the crazy lady is out of the house, or something. There's nothing else scheduled for this month, I hope... but I've said that before... So long as they don't plan for me to do things during my official vacation times... They're already loading me down with seminars for Q1 so maybe I won't get to go to London like I wanted... we'll have to see if I can score a deal or something. If I am lucky I may get NI to pay my way as far as BWI, and then I can score an even cheaper ticket to LHR from there... but then it would be harder to coordinate/afford a Twig... ponderous.

wow... I feel like I just got a email that is apparently a new spin on the old 'Nigerian bank salvage' scam. I haven't gotten one of these in years! It's almost like getting a note from an old friend... a piece of spam with a nice friendly familiar scam worded in polite if patently artificial english... It beats the hell out of the usual influx of things involving enlargments, consolidations, refinancing, or dubiously aged women doing things with (a) eachother (b) me or (c) animals... although I have to admit the whole 'hypnotize them into bed' thing makes me laugh every time....
*presses delete* well there was /my/ moment of zen for the day...
*hugs Flidget* I'm sorry luvy... If I could spare you 2 centimeters of my height so you could pass the requirements, I'd peel'em off in a jiffy. hell, 2 centimeters, I doubt I'd even notice... just have to cuff the pants alittle more... :-D

It's not often...
It's not often that I ponder getting digital cable... very rare indeed, in fact... but when you find yourself watching the movie "Twister"... in spanish... because it's the only thing on... you begin to wonder... you know? Luckily after 15 minutes my brain kicked in again and I went to read a book... yeah...
in other news... With the aid of Ann and Flidget I finally sat down and banged out the last part to 'Serendipity Season' the great and glorious tribute to Twig's writing endevors... if I do say so myself it has the potential to be witty and fun, and non-romantic... *wince* and now all the fangirls walk off... ah well...yeah so maybe try a chapter (or if you're Ann, skip right to the draft of ch5) and tell me what you think sometime? I know I know... back to work on the ff9 thing... "get in the kitchen and bake me some pie, wench!" Go badger Twig for her new little ff7 thing, it's sorta like dreaming... except you are the dream... and yet you're also Sephiroth pondering his existance.... it's fucked up and not bad fun. -- What the boy said.

FIRE OF EARTH. Good with business. You'd be good as a stock broker, physicist, mathematician, scientist or professor. You value stability and material security, but aren't likely to be greedy. You're pretty much set in your ways and can be stubborn. You are extremely reliable and stable. People like you because you can be counted on. You tend to be pragmatic and favor solutions/principles that have already been established rather than ideas that haven't had their day in court. |

borrowed this off a friend of Blackrose because it amused me... usually I hate surveys but hey... tarot is always good for laugh. *flashes victory sign* I always use Kings for myself, but this is the first time it ever told me to be a pentacle, go fig. -- What the boy said.

in a bid to get me to just add her to my damn list of links on the side... More Ivan-the-cat anecdotes, god this is funny. Aramis does this. He so does this... last night I spent like 10 minuts chasing him around as he tried to run and eat my hairtie at the same time... I got it back... but it's all weird looking now that it's yarn is all 'cat-groomed'... and while I was running after him Maki got into the leftover 'Navy bean&ham' soup that Twig made for me the other day... :-P It was a 'nono bad kitty' night. -- What the boy said.

Look out ma, she's playing with markers again...
Something about being sick this week, either that or my brain refused to figure out how to put things in writing so it rebelled and decided to doodle them instead... but I penciled up the first 3 pages of a new little story and ran'em through photoshop as the poor-man's sepia-ink job...
I know I know, real artists use ink&tone... but hell I used to do things on old printerpaper with a sharpie, so I guess I'm making a step in the right direction ^_^ The story doesn't have a name yet... and I'll probably get tired of it after the first 10 pages and wrap it up... but hey, it's going to have a spunky war-maiden... or whatever they call'em these days. So yeah, tell me what you think?

I am a Silicon Knight's shipper... so help me god.
Took a break today to cruise through the gamecube offerings once and for all to see if I gave a damn about any of the titles or if I should sell it... and hey, I finally found a game worthy of keeping the silly thing around for.
We'll see where it goes when it's released but it looks sorta pretty... Haven: Call of the King the main character isn't all that, but the levels are well designed and IGN had nothing but nice things to say about it. And it would be a shame not to rent Metroid Prime once or twice, and the Robotech game... but really, the thing with me and mecha games is I like blowing things up& looking at pretty, not trying to figure out which button /isn't/ the self-destruct switch or how to buy more ammo in the middle of a boss battle... so I can't say if I'll like them or not until I try the controls...
And because of my personal favoritism towards playing stern heros who have to battle dragons& evil... I'm just going to quietly sit here for next year and the release of 'Raven Blade' and 'Too Human'... *twiddles thumbs*
Sillicon Knights was bought by Nintendo! No WONDER I can't find 'eternal darkness' for any other platform. The bastards. Thank god the Legacy of Kain franchise was sold off years ago... but now the gamecube will be renamed "Sillicon Knights" cube... since if they screwed me over on Eternal Darkness, they'll do the same for Too Human next year. -- What the boy said.

Everybody's crying...
Finally stopped to watch the Devil May Cry 2 trailers when I took a break from work today, I think I may just cry as well... someone remind me to save my damn pennies and get a damn PS2 sometime in January? Please? maybe then I'll stop sitting on my duff bemoaning the lack of any games I want to play in the house etc... -- What the boy said.

Baseless rumor of the day... a live-action version of the Johnny Bravo cartoon series... produced by Warner Brothers... and staring The Rock? I don't know whether to laugh my ass off, or live in fear. Maybe a little of both. This requires more investigation.
Oh yeah, and God, Thorne, I love it when you talk dirty... Or talk science... or talk in general... You show those buggs what for! Breed one with nothing but EYES! that's what my sister did... she had this cool bug with like 10 eyes... it was nothing but eyes...and little feet, it was scary. So yeah. Don't mind me, I'm stupid.

That's all taken care of...
So I finally figured out who has been stalking my cellphone and not leaving messages while I'm at work for the past week(looks omniously at Twig)... You gave Dave the wrong number. I looked up the area code in a fit of pique this morning because I was like "why is this stranger calling me and never leaving a bloody message?!" and the area code came up Kalamazoo and other parts Michigan!
Me: Oh crap, I hope it's not her parents asking me christmas crap. *hits redial*
Dave: allo? *wonders who it is*
Me: allo? *It's not Twig's dad... just guess...* Dave?
Dave: yah...?
me: Oh thank god. Blah blah blah.
Working at a theater at 9am in the morning has to suck. Not as much as hand-placing the cherries in side of the chocolate covered cherries... but probably pretty bad. But hey you get all the stomach-stripping caffinated soda products you can consume, or something. Anyway so yes, Twig, if your friend calls you this afternoon, it's because he has the right number now. Giggle. -- What the boy said.
Thursday, November 7, 2002 08:59 a.m.
Hey Flidget...
ever hear of a resteraunt in London called 'Le Gavroche'? How many years ahead so we need to reserve a table to eat there? On second thought, fine french dining really doesn't do anything for me, but hey, 'great chef's is on tv and my brain is going 'hmmm I could have fun bankrupting myself by taking us all out for chicken&morells or something.... yeah. Nevermind... We'll stick with fish&chips and a bag of samosas... -- What the boy said.

Spent all day doing example code for customers, still haven't done expense report from the last trip. Must remember to do that tomorrow... must also remember to do something with plants before the firs freeze... maybe I can keep them all in my bathroom for the next 3 months...
*tries to take a shower between two large potted flowering bushes*
This was a lot easier before I had kittens, Houdini didn't blink twice at the sight of copious greenery around the house... Aramis will eat 3/4 of it within 20 minutes... I need to invest in some pepper spray. -- What the boy said.

Don't you dare...
Thorne, check your email in-box love, because I just read your blog and my knee jerked almost through the top of my desk. *ow*... bruising... Anyway. The rant is too long and personal to dump here, so *wince* try not to delete it until you hit the groveling at the end? Luv -- Lunar. -- What the boy said.

Mmmm
I made chicken soup from scratch the other day, it was shockingly easy...and then I froze the whole batch, and tonight I decided we'd eat it. It was tasty. *dog ears the page in the cookbook* that worked out well. Next time I buy a roasted chicken from the store, I'll have to do this again.
In other fangirl related news. I've finally finished transcribing most of the long hand notes out of my crappy notebook from the last few weeks of siting on my duff in airports. This means there's another FF7 snippet... it also means that I have 'one chapter' of several other things about ready to go. Give or take a month I'll have something to put up on the pit of voles, shocking.

interesting read
This little essay, compliments of Mr. Gaimans's blogg ramblings, is about as subtle as my picky 8th-grade English teacher verbally reaming you in the ear for you lack of any passible literary skills. It is however an interesting read, expecially the pro's and cons of predictiblity and marketability. Try sticking your ego under a chair for half-an-hour and see if reading this makes you think again about your writing.
*Dusts mine off*

so... yeah.
Helped Twig think of catchy things to say about her book last night, that was fun. By the time we were mostly done we had a little 'back of book' blurb to which I could only reply. "hell if I picked it up and read it, /I'd/ buy it..." Which may not be saying much, but it seemed to cheer her up. Now I must prepare the nail bat for her evil little publisher/ agent lackeys who probably wont even read it before they whip out their badly photocopied "I'm sorry but..." letters. Talk about impersonal service. :-P
Anyway, got some junkmail this morning in the 'lunar' inbox which was pretty funny... still trying to interpret the engrish to be frank, maybe you all can make more out of this than I can...?
PS : Try to order the viewbar download.

Mmm smelly...
my hotel's shampoo smells like petit fois.... or however you spell those little french cake-goodies dipped in chocolate.... damn I want some. I'll have to order a box from somewhere for christmas. It's not a proper christmas without little cake-thingies.
I am also so susceptable to commercial manipulation it hurts...
me: *watching a Goodwrench commercial* wow I want to take a class in auto-mechanics...
brain: that's crazy what would you do with a skill like that.
me: I want to drive the fastest Elantra in Texas and become captain of the Austin SpeedStars!.... oh wait, the commercial is over. What was I talking about again?
brain: thank god. Now we can forget this conversation ever happened and get back to surfing the web for porn.
me: ... huh?
brain: exactly.
The fear-demon episode of Buffy was the absolute best. Giles with a chainsaw really does beat about everything I can think of. If someday I could write a horror plot that witty, I would die a happy woman. -- What the boy said.

The pink horror
The womens' room where I am working this week is a uniform pepto-bismol pink. Evertime I step inside, I am visually wrenched out of the "calm professional/industrial gray hallway" and into... all I can think of is stomaches. Going to the bathroom is like willfully walking into the gullet of a rather bright and cheerful whale, I keep waiting for the fleshy walls to spew acid on me and disolve me down into my component -- and dubiously nutritious -- molecules to feed the great beast that is this office park. Rar. I had another nightmare about teaching a class gone wrong. This seems to tell me I really need a break from these software education classes. They're obviously making me mental.
Has anyone aside from me and Flidget ever noticed that grown-up Goten from dragonball, is the most perfect man ever? He really can do no wrong. Well except maybe the over-muscled "bull neck" but still I mean he's just this generally 'nice' guy... even helps out his annoying kid brother, does chores for his mom... saves the world... without talking smack for days with the bad guys like the rest of the cast. He's a get-things-done sort of fellow and the few times I tune into the damn show ( and not watch a rerun because it's always the same 20 episodes) the more I realize that he really doesn't belong. It's like those SAT questions, which of these 4 objects doesn't belong in the group? Anyway...
Can't actually remember what else I was going to say tonight. I'm tired so who cares. For the fangirls then, I give you, another FF7 snippet. -- What the boy said.

The 'G' in "G Gundam" stands for Gay.
Has anyone seen those 'math' commercials? Those make me laugh. G Gundam ought to make me laugh, but it's just too scary. full body spandex with a sash, not cool... and every hairdo... not cool... and all the robots, are unspeakably gay... and "the Shuffle Alliance" with it's members like "queen of hearts" and "Jack of Spades".... thats officially sillier than Metal Gear's "Lalilulelo." I am too tired, finding lots of things funny that I shouldn't. I'm also going hoarse. Too many classes in to little time is making my voice all woggy. -- What the boy said.

yar
Driving in Clearwater at night isn't a good idea... mainly because I got lost, a lot. But the cute delivery guy who brought me my dinner has me all sorted out directions wise and so I tipped him highly.
AOL is treating me kindly, and if PBS didn't have a special on about Grant vs. Lee I'd be watching the anime that B-kun gave me... maybe I will in a little bit.
*Looks at her delivery* .. I forgot to order a drink... Maybe I'll go ransack a vending machine. -- What the boy said.

Traveling sucks, even if I do get to see Baka and watch Hellsing... I wanna go home. Oh wait. I am going home... silly me. Now if only I didn't have to deal with this 50lb box of spare textbooks... maybe I'll find a PakMail on the way to the airport. Bleh.
Ne, Twig, I leave here around noonish... which means I'll probably get /there/... around after dinner ish... but jog my memory, does your work-place sell CDs? If so, do they have some new 'new age' release called Mythos...? Myth-something... Mistify... shit. I went into the 'opposition' yesterday when Baka needed to buy a paper and was listening to this strange little CD and apparently I'm too stupid to remember the name for more than 6 hours. -- What the boy said.
Saturday, October 19, 2002 11:24 p.m.
There she goes again...
Yup, I'm off again. Gotta catch a flight at 8am off to 'sunny' Orlando to teach a class. Must remember to pack my memory card for the GameCube so I can play Eternal Darkness at Baka's house and make him get me through the harder bosses or something...
Dropped my lappy today by accident and the stupid little back-door thingy snapped off (like they always do). So now my serial jack and others are exposed, Naked, REVEALED to even the most casual observer... I'm hard pressed to care. I've never had a laptop who's little door on the back lasted more than about a year. This one has held up for a year and a half now so I'm pretty impressed. Then again I have pampered it something awful.
Ants reappeared in my kitchen tonight. Naturally I went on a satanic killing spree and as a result now have a shiny clean floor... which will last about 3 hours at the rate my cats track litter around... If they come back by the time I return I will have a firm conversation with my leasing office again.
Did a quick website update, more scribblings and a new quiz, cruise by if that's your fancy... Thorne was very inspiring tonight, I now have an urge to draw monkies like nobody's buisness, and the quiz is funnier too. -- What the boy said.
Friday, October 18, 2002 10:10 a.m.
Apathy...
Ok, first of... Pink? What's the deal with that. And damn that picture is cute! I want the original, I went to the website but I didn't find anything but weird little MegaTokyo style comic&rant.
*bows* Happy birthday Wind-chan, sadly I have no honorary candy for you... my brain is too busy trying to parse Flidget's wacked out dream (urge to draw Mully with lil' flying hungry hippos growing every minute).
Twig can testify that my cats were being demonic this morning. They knocked over their waterbowl, they tried to steal my breakfast, tip the trash, eat my powercable on the lappy, and then were determined to lock themselves in my closet before I left the house. I almost didn't finish the next little bit of Zack fic because I was moping up water and all... I dunno, if I write one more little snippet maybe I'll post it in the pit of voles. It's fluffy and useless, but nothing catches a fangirl's attention like ff7 fics... or something. Then again, I think I'll wait for Twig to finish. I suck at direct competition XD, she'd retaliate by writing a VS fic, and then I'd be blown out of the water. BA! Torpedoed! *flying Lunar* -- What the boy said.
Thursday, October 17, 2002 01:19 a.m.
So... yeah.
So it's fun when it gets cold out at night because I'm too lazy to close the sliding door just yet and the kittens have curled into cute little warmpth-protecting balls on the couch as they patiently wait for me to finish doing my thing and climb into bed with me. Talk about loyal... yeah... my cats rock. Then again given that Twig's closed her door for the evening they have few options. Maki is getting very fluffy now that kittenhood is over... she reminds me of dearly departed Houdini in all the good ways.
In other news I am dubiously proud that I've written something again. I sorta fell off the wagon for a while with the constant travel and video games and all, but I'm back up again it seems. Well I wrote something worthy of showing the fangirls anyway.
Blame Madamhydra for updating, blame Twig for her update and for our occassional ff7 banter... blame my stupid figments for finally sorting themselves out but I give you... a little ff7 bit o fluff... I dunno where it's going but really it's just an excuse for me to stick snippets of stuff that eventually may become something... or eventually won't... yeah, so it's definitely in MH's universe... waive your hands and close your eyes or something. Blerg. I'll probably regret this in the morning. Wait, it is the morning. Off to bed I go. -- What the boy said.

Buffy... bums
Ok... so they didn't kill Spike like I wanted at the end if the last leason like I wanted... but hell the wrting has improved, so that's good. And as a hidden perk, not only has he turned into a sniveling lump, but his hair looks bad too. Ha Ha!
And here's a big thumbs up to the new Snickers commercial with the guidance councilor "Have you ever thought of joining a cult? They don't pay taxes you know..."
Shit. spoke to soon. He fixed his hair by the end of the episode. -- What the boy said.

*Snicker*
Shhhhhhhhh....
I got a raise today... ^_^. Lunar's first raise... She feels proud. I'm going to take Twig out to dinner... maybe not tonight but sometime. Laaa... and hey I don't have to feel bad because B-Kun probably got a raise too, he's just more straightlaced about his finances than I am so he'd never say. That reminds me, I should ask him if he wants a free lunch. -- What the boy said.

Mmmmmm fandom...
Ok. So Now that I have a free moment I can take a minute to go "WAI!" because I've finally gotten to meet CoolFish from the awesome DK circle Photosynthesis Station for whom I am always willing to do free advertising. She is just as nifty as I thought she'd be, as a basic coolness indicator... her car has a "KUPO" on it. So she gave me her groups new Sirius&Remus half-size DJ, which is adorable... and we ate curry... and she let me see her manga collection and showed me some Full Metal Panic... It was a very cool and she rules, and boy do I wish I knew Chinese because then I could read her stuff... yeah... fangirls of the world unite... or at least hang out and drink milktea!
I've decided I really need that One Piece subscription... if the comic book store in Austin can't handle it, I'll take my buisness elsewhere. The story is only getting cooler. Oda sensei is merciless. I like that. And I'll shut up before Flidget hits me with her spoiler bat. -- What the boy said.

Because I can...
Because Flidget's new blog entry's title has it stuck in my head... I give you... Monkey Gone to Heaven. I thank you. -- What the boy said.

... you are a fish.
Me and Fish-chan are still playing reality-tag, but somehow I will meet her for dinner. Mark my words. Oh yes it will be done... I just feel bad about making her drive ^_^ Not everyone is a driving fetishist like me.
Flidget, go to your damn homepage I've fixed things up a bit so that they work. You were close, just didn't have the images in the right subfolder. I also gave you an index page to motivate you to do something with it ^_^. The server can take up to 15 minutes to sense changes in content so sometimes you have to wait to see changes in the index.html but other than that changes should be immediate.
Hanging out with friends in meat world is cool and all, but I'm getting nothing done :-P. I did go over to Kinokuniya yesterday afternoon and dropped about 100 dollars on Japanese textbooks. I feel like I'm back in college *waives smoking credit card as she leaves store* I also picked up a copy of the OnePiece, it's the Tankobon with the final fight for Albasta. I just need to know what happened. After spending 95$ on useful things I figured the extra 5.50 wouldn't kill me. Mmmmm Lufi, how I wish I was part of your Pirated crew. I could be a wacky musician... hit things with my oboe. -- What the boy said.

As Usual....
As usual I forget to mention I'm traveling until after I've already arrived. So I'm in San Jose. Hurray. and next week I'm home... and the week after that Orlando, then home... then orlando again... then Mexico apparently... then Massachussets... So really Twig and I aren't roommates. Twig gets run of a nice 2 bedroom apartment, that happens to have all my stuff in it. I suck. I suck a lot... but apparently the 2 weeks I spend at the seminar in Mexico may result in the largest sale of the company ever... blah blah blah...
Drove down to Santa Cruz this afternoon to kill time. Fell inlove with curvy lovely highway 17. Had fun keeping pace with the locals and wished for an initial D soundtrack to keep me company, or better yet, a screaming B-kun in the passenger seat. Then again, he'd probably have been going "Wheee!" so maybe a screaming Oren-sempai... I hiked on some bluffs and went "yeay pelicans!" and then went to the Mystery Spot and sure, some of it is optical illusions... but you can feel /something/ in the area... rather like standing next to an MRI magnet, but makes you much queasier... so I bet there is some field at work. Or maybe an Underhill... who knows.
I found Twig's infamous Henry Weinhard's Rootbeer, it is as good as last time. I'll have to figure out how to smuggle some back in my luggage. Maybe I'll wrap it in my suits for padding... ^_^ I'm just worried it'll freeze in the cargo hold... shipping may be an option.
Mel Gibson as Maverick just scares me. -- What the boy said.

Something for B-kun
The scariest thing I plan to see all day, and I saw it on the way into work. It was an /old/ forest green GMC Ventura cargo van with tiny sport-tires, modified tail-lights, and extra shiny hubcaps... B-kun would have had to been there to tell me if the tires were just extra wide, or if there were spacers... but /really/ If you're going to rice out your car... atleast make it worth the effort? A Ventura... come ON people. This town is full of freaks.

oh yeah...
and Spooky the kitten thing is probably my fault. Everyone I know is obliged to rescue a kitten eventually, my cat-rescue tendancies are contageous. Even Tom has recently obtained a rescued kitten back in the 'burgh from whence I came, he and his housemates promptly named it Snuffelufagus, or 'snuffy' for short. But for the record, what is 'binking' ? ... Cats bink carpets? Is this like kneeding? or clawing? puking on? or trying to make mad monkey love to? Because if it is the last, you may want to call around for a city spay/neuter clinic :-P -- What the boy said.

When will I learn.
Had a nice entry all fleshed out last night, about beloved Tom-of-the-excessive-Gay, and my fun weekend, and how Twig and I have fallen madly in love with Eternal Darkness. And I even had this teaser for a cute little ff7 fic... and naturally, the cats managed to unplug the charging laptop while I was getting ready for bed, and my entry went piff when it jumped to 'emergency off.' I really must learn to type these things into Word or something. The fragment is saved, and I'll stick it somewhere later.
For the moment, the best entertainment I can offer is the Meow-mix song. Meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow I like chiken I like liver ... yeah, nevermind.
I think I'll just sit here and ponder how to tell my financial advisor that his funds suck before our meeting this afternoon. Politely of course. -- What the boy said.

I am a putz.
So I went out to get videos again today. You know, nice standard run to the store... and it turned into a minor epic because I decided (thanks to my sleep deprived and idiotic brain) that I wanted to rent Eternal Darkness again. I've been pondering this game ever since I played it at Baka's house, and frankly, when a game sticks with you that long, it's either/that good/ or you've just gone crazy... shut up. I'm not crazy. Not yet anyway. After about an hour of investigating, I came to the conclusion that Nobody rents gamecubes any more. Frys however, had them on sale. *blinks at the gamecube currently sitting on her coffee table* Hello little guy... how'd you get there?
Anyway... I figure beating Eternal Darkness (I rented it) will take about a week tops... so... anyone want to buy a Gamecube next month? *wince* I think I'll just put it on ebay. At least the game is worth it. Every bit as good as I remember, and it looks far better on a 'real' tv rather than Baka's old used GE piece of crap. The only catch is, now Twig will have to put up with me slaughtering skellitons all the time now. Divine vengance for all the DDR in the house perhaps Muahahahaha.
*whacks zombie* ... booyeah. -- What the boy said.

A flower, a chicken, and a grumpy pet.
Saw Chou Gals at anime club for the first time in a while, they showed episodes 7+8 which finaly gives the back plot on the little blonde sidekick who'se name escapes me. I'll have to ask B-kun later he might know. That show is cool. It's like CCD, if you replaced all the waffy cute with Diva style cute, and made Nokoru a no-nonsense hard hitting go-go boot wearing blonde with red streaks in her hair. The frequent cameos by the red dog statue of Shibuya also fills me with love.
Bought flowers and a roast chicken at the store on the way home, for no real reason aside from that fact that it was 5pm, and I was hungry leaving work. It was good on rolls, and the cats helped me debone it into a bowl for snacking later, so it was a success I think. I also got some flowers, mostly because they were cheap, and pretty and I haven't had any in a while. Aramis delights in running up to the vase and stealing the leaves... so much so that I have moved the damn things from the kitchen counter to the mantlepiece, and now he is grumpily sitting on the hearth pondering if he can jump up there to get them again. He talks when he's grumpy. Mostly a lot of "meep meep" style whining. I've distracted him by giving him the cardboard roll left over from the papertowels. He likes that. Maybe I'll hide the flowers in my bathroom over night.
Drew Flidgie some more 'Ryan's for the 'One Ship Armada' comic I've been promising her the story for. It reminds me I also need to mail her the CDs she needs to doodle it for me. Which reminds me that I want to play with Twig's Wacom sometime... just to say I tried. -- What the boy said.

Wooo Books.
This looks tasty. Dude with all the children's books breaking through the adult market with sticks... it sorta makes me wonder if I'm practicing my writing skillz for the wrong audience. Maybe I should stick to gothy children's books. I mean I've got a whole idea for a story that starts off with a little boy who runs away from home and gets a magical pet dog... I could spin that, right...? take out the blood... and the blood... and the yeah, whatever. But I still want to read this book now. Hurray for crazy Germans. -- What the boy said.

Check, check... radio freelance...
Felt like a change, dunno why... maybe Catt's Müllencamp inspired me. Goodness knows working on layouts is more entertaining than doing something productive with my evening, but the green is relaxing for some reason and I think I'll stick with it for a while. Kurai's art is still as gorgeous as the day that it arrived in my inbox, so three cheers for her.
I'll try to have (a) more entertaining news (b) some sort of update this weekend but mostly I just want to say that Java servlets are officially my bitch, if only I could thing of a good non-commercial use for one, I'd somehow build them into my site. I am tired, and the cats are ignoring me in favor of sleeping under the couch. There's respect for you. -- What the boy said.
